On April 4, Lynn Damon, MARC Board Chair, randomly selected six people to go on a Disney Cruise thanks to an anonymous donor who paid for the entire trip. Our six people served gathered in the lobby where Lynn told them the exciting news about their all expense paid trip. Everyone cheered and celebrated with confetti, Mickey and Minnie balloons, and a photo opportunity with more Disney characters.
“Thank you to Lynn, [Cathy] who booked everything, and the person who donated the money to make my brother, my friends' and I's dreams come true,” said Jodie, one of MARC Inc.’s people served.
MARC Inc. set sail on Friday, September 20th on their weekend getaway. Mickey and his friends were excited to greet the MARC Inc. family with a special meet and greet with characters and a weekend full of activities. “Mickey Mouse and Goofy gave me a kiss on the cheek,” said Jodie.
On Saturday, our people served, staff and family were able to get off the boat and enjoy the day onDisney’s private island, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. This experience included food, drinks, swimming, and a comfortable cabana for our MARC family. They even spotted Minnie Mouse on the beach!
When our MARC family wasn’t exploring the islands on Saturday and Sunday, they were enjoying all that the cruise had to offer. From themed restaurants and shows, swimming pools, Mickey ice cream bars, and meeting characters, they were fully immersed in the Disney experience. “I liked the restaurants and the food on the ship. I liked swimming at the island. I liked the candy each day that was left on the bed. I liked dressing up as a pirate,” said John, another person served at MARC Inc.
Lynn Damon added, “Saturday night was the special pirate party with Mickey flying in on a wire and a beautiful firework display to cap the night off.” Fun fact about the Disney cruises is after the fireworks explode, it turns into fish food!
When the trip came to an end, it was clear how much this opportunity meant to our people served. Meghan, Kassey’s mother, stated “Thank you for the amazing trip and the opportunity for Kassey to truly live out her dream! To see her so full of joy and her pure excitement is everything magical moments are made of!”.
“Thank you MARC and Lynn for making my Disney dreams come true! The best part was meeting Goofy. It was amazing that I got to do this with my best friends! “ said Kassey. “I want to do another one in the future!” added Jodie.
