“MARC, Inc. of Manchester is not just a place, it’s a community that lifts your spirits, fills your heart, and makes every moment better when MARC is a part of it.” – Carol Cavalieri
The following reflections, shared by a handful of our dedicated volunteers, capture the spirit of what it means to give time at MARC.
At MARC, volunteering is about more than showing up, it’s about connection, community, and the relationships that grow through shared time and care. It’s in the small moments, the familiar faces, and the sense of belonging that builds over time.
“I volunteer with MARC Inc. because helping others is deeply rewarding to me. I truly believe in the organization’s mission, and the connections I build with the people we serve make every moment meaningful.” – Chris Giard
For many volunteers, those connections become the heart of the experience.
“Being around the people served, other volunteers & staff energizes me & warms my heart. MARC, Inc. of Manchester is my happy place.” – Gina Benoit
“I volunteer at MARC, Inc. of Manchester because I truly believe in the mission and the people behind it. Showing up—no matter the event—may seem like a small act, but it creates a real impact. The individuals we support are more than just part of the program; they become friends, companions, and family. Volunteering gives me the chance to show how much I genuinely care about them, not just in my role, but as a person.” – Emma Dumont, MARC Assistive Technology Specialist
“I love volunteering at MARC because I truly believe in what we do. Working in HR, I don't always get the chance to connect with our people served. Volunteering allows me to build those relationships and directly support our mission.” – Shannon Rotaru, MARC HR Generalist
Each story is different, but together they reflect something shared. Care, connection, and a commitment to community. Volunteers bring energy, compassion, and presence that help deepen every program and experience at MARC.
Because of them, MARC is more than a service organization, it is a place where relationships are built, inclusion is strengthened, and community is felt in real and lasting ways.
This Volunteer Appreciation Month, we are grateful not only for the time our volunteers give, but for the heart they bring with them every time they show up.
